ACCHO is pleased to announce the launch of the new Ontario HIV/AIDS Strategy for African, Caribbean and Black Communities 2013-2018 (the ACB Strategy). It is the 2nd provincial strategy to respond to HIV/AIDS in Ontario’s African, Caribbean and Black communities. The ACB Strategy aims to guide a coordinated set of actions to address HIV issues within ACB communities in Ontario at the individual and family, community and provincial levels. It also recognizes that rather than focusing only on people’s risk behaviours, we must seek to understand the lived experience of the population in relation to the social determinants of health and offer supports that address the root causes of HIV/AIDS, if we are to be more effective in our efforts to respond to HIV/AIDS in our communities.
