ACCHO is pleased to announce the release of the fact sheet, Responding to Questions on HIV Cure Research in African, Caribbean and Black Communities.
Finding a cure for HIV has been identified as a priority by many African, Caribbean and Black people living with HIV/AIDS (PHAs) in Ontario. However, there appears to be misinformation about what constitutes an HIV cure, and about cure research more generally. This fact sheet aims to demystify the HIV cure, and increase knowledge and awareness of the complexities of the search for a cure. It was developed by ACCHO in collaboration with the Canadian HIV Cure Enterprise (CanCURE) for African, Caribbean and Black communities, the service providers who work with them and other stakeholders.
ACCHO is a member of the CanCURE community advisory board and, in partnership with Women’s Health in Women’s Hands Community Health Centre, works to meaningfully engage African, Caribbean and Black PHAs and service providers in dialogue on the potential impacts of HIV cure research and a future cure on PHAs’ lives.
