The African and Caribbean Council on HIV/AIDS in Ontario (ACCHO) will be hosting the first Ontario African and Caribbean People Living with HIV/AIDS (PHA) Summit at the Ramada Plaza Toronto (300 Jarvis Street) on November 28th and 29th, 2008. The Summit is organized by and for African, Caribbean and Black PHAs in Ontario.

The goal of the Summit is to promote greater involvement by African, Caribbean and Black PHAs in efforts to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS among African and Caribbean communities, and improve access to care, treatment and support for PHAs and their communities.

ACCHO is organizing the Summit in partnership with the Ontario AIDS Network (OAN) and the Committee for Accessible AIDS Treatment (CAAT). Funding and technical support are provided by the AIDS Bureau of the Ministry of Health and Long-term Care and the Ontario HIV Treatment Network

The Summit program includes presentations, panels and facilitated discussions on a number of issues relevant to the health and wellbeing of African, Caribbean and Black PHAs in Ontario. In addition, the Summit will set the stage for a provincial African, Caribbean and Black PHA advisory committee in Ontario.
